Here’s a few excellent websites and articles I’ve come across lately that will interest all film crew and aspiring media professionals:

• www.theblackandblue.com is Evan Luzi’s web site that’s predominantly for camera assistants but really great for all on set crew. He posts great articles on a regular basis focused on improving on set professionalism and better film making. Evan’s articles are enjoyable to read and highly informative.
• www.shericandler.com Sheri is a prolifically blogging film marketing and publicity guru I started following while looking to expand my knowledge of independent film publicity. Her site is not only a great resource on film publicity, but also in the world of personal branding and self promotion use of social media not to mention a bunch of other useful topics. Even if film publicity isn’t your area of interest I think Sheri has a lot of excellent advice for anyone interested in film making.
• www.theunitlist.com is operated by Jude Winstanley and is an excellent resource to follow for paid UK production jobs. Oh yeah, and its absolutely free to subscribe for regular alerts via twitter, facebook or RSS.
• Shu Richmond’s So you want to work in television – its a must read source if you’re wanting to forge a career in UK TV
• www.elsasharp.com Elsa is a TV Talent Manager who specialises in TV career coaching. Elsa also wrote a book on the subject How to get a job in Television.
• BBC podcast – Getting into TV – Shu Richmond (Executive Producer), Jude Winstanley (Production Manager), Elsa Sharp (TV Talent Manager), Sarah Grout (BBC Vision Intake) talk with Simon Smith on the CoP Show with many other sessions relevant to the world of media(Podcast Link)
• www.plink.co.uk Plink Meets…a series of audio interviews with leading UK Film, TV and Photographic creatives

The Team at Squarebox Yellow have just finished Making Ugly the debut feature film directed by Andy Niblo. Team Ugly are now ready for the film to hit the festival circuit and are seeking distribution.

To celebrate the completion they’ve released another teaser poster featuring Paul Quinn who plays Neil. Its another of my photos being used to great effect in a poster and I’m pleased to present it.

Somebody scored a Home Run!

Lightstalking.com is an excellent photography resource I’ve followed religiously. It is full of excellent examples of photography work and also great tips trick and tutorials covering photographing of all kinds of subjects.

Light Stalking is a site about beautiful photography.

We appreciate beautiful photography and our intent is to spread the word about the awesome photographers who produce it. We want to put great photographers in front of an audience so they get the recognition they deserve. We also try to impart a little knowledge about the techniques behind the art. Most importantly, we try not to take ourselves too seriously and endeavor to keep this whole project fun.

This week they published 37 Websites Every Photographer Should be Reading. As a highly niche resource, it’s excellent recognition that this web site was included in their list. Big thanks to the team at Lightstalking!

Earlier this year I had the brief pleasure of working for a day on the set of Wavelengths a short film directed by James Spinney and Matt Houghton and starring the absolutely delightful to work with Kate Anthony and James Smith.
